MELBOURNE ZOO

Melbourne Zoo offers many exciting opportunities to develop programs for students of all ages. Programs range from classroom experiences with close-up animal contact to programs developed by education staff for use in the zoos under the guidance of the students own teachers

In addition to the wide range of programs for schools, there is a series of student conferences and professional development activities offered each year.

HEALESVILLE SANCTUARY

Australia's foremost wildlife sanctuary is nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, a one-hour drive east of Melbourne. Exploring the fern gullies, wetlands and forests of the Sanctuary, students will encounter a diversity of Australian animals in natural settings.

'Animal Close-Up' presentations by Sanctuary staff, including the popular 'Birds of Prey', provide an exciting and memorable experience for students during their visit. Experienced education staffl create a motivating and stimulating learning environment in our purpose-built classrooms, Sanctuary grounds and adjoining natural bushland.

WERRIBEE OPEN RANGE ZOO

The open plains and Werribee River escarpment provide a dramatic setting for the Werribee Open Range Zoo. You can experience the unique combination of a guided safari-style adventure, a Discovery Session in our Learning Centre and the freedom of exploring the African Walking Trail and the Volcanic Plains.

Students can participate in a range of stimulating activities, including ponding the Werribee River Floodplain and coming into contact with animals such as a Madagascan Ground Boa or an Eastern Barred Bandicoot.
