Spirit of Gold Coast is incredibly focused on education and the marine environment. We have a Marine Biologist on board who is passionate about and focused on the majestic Humpback Whales, sharing their knowledge with children and families who travel with Spirit. We want to ensure everyone on board understands more about marine life, recycling and how to be a Guardian of the Ocean.
We would love the opportunity to work in partnership with you and share this incredible experience with your Students and Staff, allowing them to observe the Gentle Giants in their natural habitat. Spirit has the flexibility to partner with your School in a number of different ways, ranging from class excursions, to Staff social days, sponsorship and prize donations for charity events, to newsletter special offers for Students and their Families. Our goal is to share this incredible spectacle of nature with the local community, providing educational and meaningful tours.
The Whale Watching Season occurs every year between June and November. Spirit is recognised to have the best customer service in town, shown in the way we genuinely care about our passengers. These results are easily seen through feedback across all of our Social Media pages:
Spirit’s recent educational achievements include:
- Establishing a relationship with Southport State High offering Students studying Marine Biology work experience on board Spirit.
- Establishing a relationship with Study Gold Coast offering International and Domestic Students on the Ambassador Program a chance to experience the Gentle Giants of the sea with the intention of sharing their experience with other Students.
- Hosting the Young Whale Warrior Competition for primary aged Students throughout the Gold Coast Region to share their passion about the majestic humpback Whales.
Spirit Whale Watching cruises include:
- 2.5 to 3 hour cruise with tea, coffee and biscuits provided upon arrival. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase.
- The Spirit vessel is a 24 metre Supercat purposely built for Whale Watching, offering upper and lower deck views and accommodating up to 150 passengers.
- Spirit is focused on Education, with a Marine Biologist guiding our tours.
- Spirit cruises depart from Mariner’s Cove Marina (Main Beach), 7 days a week at 9:30am. Afternoon cruises with a 1:30pm departure are available depending on availability and weather conditions.
