The Science Centre and Planetarium is the largest indoor attraction in the Illawarra. With over 100 hands-on interactive exhibits on gyroscopes, dinosaurs and fossils, motors, electricity, the environment, and challenging puzzles, there is something for all ages.
Turn day into night and immerse yourself in the BlueScope Steel Planetarium, NSWs only major planetarium. Journey to stars and planets near and far, or be dazzled by exciting laser concerts.
The Illawarra Coal Science Theatre offers an assortment of science related shows. The Liquid Nitrogen Show and the Bubbles and Balloons Show are available for public viewing on weekends and school holidays. For group bookings, choose from nine entertaining & interactive science shows. Content and language are adapted to suit age and ability levels.
Specifically for schools: Located directly opposite the Science Centre, Puckey's Estate Reserve is a rare hind-dune lagoon ecosystem complete with littoral rainforest, sand dunes, beach front and historical ruins. Learn about the local water cycle and human impacts on the environment. Identify native and exotic plants. Discover plants used by the local Wodi Wodi people for medicine, food and crafts.
