The Reverend John Flynn, founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), has been brought back to life to tell the story of the foundation of the world famous aeromedical service.

Experience - Two Interactive story telling mini ghosts. Meet Alf Traeger and Nurse Kathy who answer selected questions from a touch panel. Touchscreen Portals allow the visitor to learn about the history and the activities of the RFDS pilots, engineers, doctors and nurses. Pedal Radio invented by Alf Traeger and used by people of the Outback. Story Boards that provide very informative reading of the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

The Tourist Facility demonstrates to visitors the importance of the RFDS to outback Australians and the medical care required to service isolated regions. Step inside a replica RFDS aircraft and feel what it is like to be a patient at 15,000 feet.

Enjoy lunch, morning and afternoon tea inside the air-conditioned RFDS cafe, housed in one of Alice Springs finest heritage buildings.

The Facility won the 2012 Brolga NT Tourism award for Best New Development and was placed 3rd in the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
