Near the township of Buchan, lies a honeycomb of caves full of spectacular limestone formations. Buchan Caves Reserve was established to cater to the needs of the thousands of visitors who visit the caves each year. A variety of Cave Tours are available to school groups including:
Show Caves (Royal and Fairy Caves)
Adventure Caves (Spring Creek and Wilsons Cave)
Ex-Show caves (rarely seen by the public) including Federal, Lilly Pilly, Murrindal and Childrens Caves.
Buchan Caves reserve has a modern visitor interpretation centre with educational information about caves, stalactites and stalagmites, Limestone features, Aboriginal history and much more. There are several walking tracks around the Buchan Caves Reserve which are suitable for self-guided walks for students. Camping, Cabins and Wilderness Retreats are available all year providing opportunity for School groups to use the Reserve as a base to explore the Snowy River National Park and participate in other activities such as bushwalking, white-water rafting, abseiling and horse riding.
