Bridestowe Lavender Estate, at Nabowla, Tasmania, is not only the largest lavender farm in the Southern hemisphere, but also one of Tasmania’s most popular tourist destinations.

During the year there are many opportunities for students to learn.

Whether it be the planting and growing process or harvest and distillation on a working farm, observing the manufacturing process; as part of a tertiary curriculum in tourism or agriculture Bridestowe is a working farm in action. The Estate is also a very popular venue for art and photography students throughout the year, with the moody silvers and grey making way for glorious shades of green and culminating in the beautiful vista of purple at the end of the year.
Opportunities to observe nature abound, with an abundance of flora and fauna.

Flowering starts around the middle of November and reaches full splendour during December and January. Harvesting for dried flower begins around mid December. Harvesting for oil production and distillation begin in January and continue into February, depending on weather conditions.

A teddy bear’s picnic is held in October, featuring Bridestowe’s famous friend, Bobbie the Bridestowe bear.

Guided tours and learning activities are available for school groups by appointment. An excellent audio-visual presentation detailing the Estate's remarkable history and explaining the harvesting and distillation processes is screened in the Visitor Centre.

The two, massive, Oak trees planted in 1881, offer wonderful vantage and picnic spots. Visitors are encouraged to stroll around the two kilometres of graded
