School Camps on Fraser Island

Fraser Island is the natural choice for an immersive and educational experience for all ages. This UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscape comprises complex dune systems, a diverse range of flora and fauna and an abundance of freshwater lakes just waiting to be explored.

Partake in a range of leadership and team building activities, such as orienteering, laser skirmish, raft building, archery, scavenger hunts and more, or traverse the sand tracks to uncover the ancient history of this island paradise.
From day trips and excursions to school camps by the sea, Fraser Island is the perfect place to step out of the classroom and into the great outdoors.

Where the wild things are…

  • Learn about the animal kingdom, with whales, dugongs, dolphins, birds, dingoes, reptiles, amphibians and fish calling the island home – even bring a torch and spot some of the nocturnal species!
  • Admire the soaring satinay trees that were once used to rebuild the London Docks after World War II.
  • Embark on an array of walks and talks with our Rangers! Wander through the wallum and, discover wildlife along the western beach, or learn about marine ecosystems as you explore the magnificent mangroves.
  • Taste the flavours of Australia and sample some traditional bush tucker, found right here on Fraser Island. Discover how our bush provided foods and medicine for the native Butchulla people, and how these ingredients can be used in everyday life.

Educational expeditions…

  • Learn about the island’s formation, as you trek across shifting sands of the Hammerstone Sandblow, to the emerald green oasis of Lake Wabby.
  • Weave your way through the giant king ferns and towering palms – the only place in the world where rainforests grow from the sand, at elevations of 200m.
  • Travel across island, for an action-packed 4WD adventure. Drive up the famous 75 Mile Beach, witness the multi-coloured sands of the Pinnacles and discover the historic hull of the Maheno Shipwreck.
